Memphis Grizzlies’ Ty Jerome Out 4 Weeks with Calf Strain
BREAKING: Memphis Grizzlies guard Ty Jerome has been diagnosed with a high-grade right calf strain, sidelining him for at least four weeks, the team confirmed just moments ago. Jerome sustained the injury during the first quarter of the preseason game against the Miami Heat last week.
This development comes as the Grizzlies prepare for their regular-season opener against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 18, 2023. The team is already grappling with a series of injuries that could impact their early performance this season.
Jerome’s injury is a significant blow for the Grizzlies, especially following his impressive season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which led to a lucrative three-year, $28 million contract with Memphis. The team will need to rally in his absence as they aim for a strong start to the season.
In addition to Jerome, the Grizzlies are missing several key players: backup point guard Scottie Pippen Jr. is out for at least 12 weeks due to a left big toe injury, Zach Edey is sidelined with an ankle injury, and forward Brandon Clarke is recovering from knee surgery. Clarke is expected to be reevaluated six weeks post-operation.
Adding to the team’s challenges, star point guard Ja Morant is also on the injury report with an ankle issue, although he is anticipated to play against the Pelicans.
This situation raises concerns for the Grizzlies as they head into a crucial part of the season. With multiple injuries affecting their roster, the team must quickly adapt to maintain their competitive edge. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as the Grizzlies navigate this difficult start.
Stay tuned for updates on Jerome’s recovery and the Grizzlies’ performance as the season progresses.
