UPDATE: In a significant development, Kwessi Adom Silcott, a 20-year-old from Dorchester, has turned himself in to Boston Police and is now being held without bail. He faces charges of first-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm linked to a tragic drive-by shooting that left 18-year-old G’Kiyah Lewis dead and two others injured on October 11, 2023 in Mattapan.

Silcott’s detention follows the arrest of Dkhari Wornum-Brown, 22, also from Dorchester, who was apprehended earlier this week. Both suspects are scheduled for a probable cause hearing on February 5, 2024, after Judge Dana Pierce ordered them held without bail.

“This is a crucial step in seeking justice for G’Kiyah Lewis and her family,” stated Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden. “While nothing can ease the pain of this tragic loss, we hope the legal process provides some measure of solace.”

Witnesses report that on the day of the shooting, Wornum-Brown allegedly surveilled a residence on Hiawatha Road before picking up Silcott. According to authorities, Silcott fired a staggering 21 shots at the victims on the porch, as recorded by ShotSpotter technology. Lewis sustained critical injuries, being shot in both the head and chest, and remained on life support until her passing on November 7.

This case highlights the ongoing gun violence crisis affecting communities, prompting urgent calls for safety measures and accountability. The arrests of Silcott and Wornum-Brown come amid increasing concerns over public safety as Boston grapples with a rise in violent crime.

As the investigation continues, community members are left reeling from the loss of a young life, with many hoping for justice and change. The upcoming hearing on February 5 will be pivotal in determining the next steps in this case.

For those affected, the emotional weight of this incident remains heavy, with many seeking answers as to how such violence can be prevented in the future. As this story develops, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

Stay tuned for more updates on this urgent case, as Boston’s community calls for justice and reflection on the impact of gun violence.
