BREAKING: Boxing champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford was ticketed by Omaha Police for allegedly running a red light at 2:27 PM while en route to the state wrestling championships at CHI Health Center on Saturday. This incident comes as Crawford faces an upcoming trial in April related to a previous careless driving charge.

Officers observed Crawford driving a 2026 Mercedes-Benz SUV when they noted the vehicle traveling “southbound on 14th Street from I-480” at an estimated speed of over 50 mph. According to the police report, the traffic light turned solid red before Crawford reached the intersection, yet he continued through without braking. The officer, stationed at 14th and Capitol, described the moment as he watched Crawford stop at another red light before proceeding once traffic cleared.

In the exchange, Crawford inquired about which red light he had violated, to which the officer responded that he had run two. Justifying his actions, Crawford mentioned he was headed to watch his son wrestle, as the NSAA parade of champions commenced at 3 PM in downtown Omaha.

This latest traffic stop marks a new chapter in Crawford’s recent legal troubles. Last September, he faced scrutiny after a controversial traffic stop near 12th and Capitol, following a parade held in his honor. During that encounter, his bodyguard claimed they informed officers about the presence of legal firearms in the vehicle. However, due to a miscommunication, police responded with force, leading to a federal lawsuit filed in December by passengers in the car alleging unconstitutional use of force and discrimination. Notably, Crawford did not join the lawsuit.

As the boxing star’s legal challenges mount, this most recent incident adds to a growing list of concerns regarding his driving record. The public and fans alike are now watching closely as Crawford prepares for his April trial.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as it unfolds.
