Travis Kelce Confirms He Will STAY in NFL, Eyes 2026 Season
UPDATE: In a stunning turn of events, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has decided to put his retirement plans on hold and continue his NFL career for at least one more season. This news comes as the Chiefs’ tight end faced speculation about his future following a disappointing 2025 season where the team failed to reach the playoffs.
Kelce, aged 36, had been considering retirement after a season that saw the Chiefs fall short of expectations, finishing X in the AFC and ending with a heart-wrenching loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on January 4. However, recent developments have reignited his passion for the game.
According to reports from The Daily Mail, Kelce’s decision to stay is largely influenced by the return of offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Sources close to the player indicate that Kelce is excited about Bieniemy’s guidance, which he believes could restore the team’s offensive prowess.
“Travis is very excited that Eric Bieniemy is coming back to the Chiefs as offensive coordinator as it will jolt the team’s offense back to their glory days,” a source told The Daily Mail.
Kelce’s desire to play alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes one last time is also a significant factor in his decision. “He wants to go out on his terms,” the source added, emphasizing that retirement is now less likely unless persuaded otherwise.
With Bieniemy at the helm again, Kelce feels rejuvenated and optimistic about the upcoming season. His brother, Jason Kelce, also voiced support for Bieniemy’s return, stating, “It’s a marriage that is going to pick up right where it left off.”
The Chiefs, known for their back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 2023 and 2024, are now looking to bounce back from a lackluster 2025 season. Kelce’s commitment to stay in the game could be a pivotal moment for the franchise as they aim to reclaim their status as championship contenders.
As the NFL landscape shifts with Kelce’s announcement, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this decision impacts the Chiefs’ strategy moving into the 2026 season.
Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops and the Chiefs prepare for what could be a transformative year ahead!
