William L. Sheridan, 91, Remembered for Service and Adventure

BREAKING: William L. Sheridan, a beloved figure from South Windsor, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on December 30, 2025. His family, friends, and community are mourning the loss of a man whose life was marked by service, adventure, and dedication.

Born on January 21, 1934, in Hartford, Bill was the son of the late Helen and William T. Sheridan. After graduating from East Hartford High School in 1952, he began a career as a sheet metal apprentice at Pratt & Whitney. His commitment to his country led him to serve in the U.S. Army Aviation as a Crew Chief, followed by a stint in the National Guard.

Throughout his life, Bill embraced a spirit of adventure. He worked for the Fuller Brush Company, served as a mechanic for a racing team at Riverside Park, and even ran a side business distributing frozen pizzas and ovens to local establishments. With a passion for math and accounting, he later enjoyed a successful career with the State of Connecticut as a Tax Unit Manager, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.

Bill was an active member of the Manchester Army Navy Club, where he served as Treasurer for a decade. His love for camaraderie extended to the Manchester’s Eighth District Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a dedicated Director. His contributions to the community and fellow veterans were profound, highlighting a life committed to service.

Married to his beloved wife, Ann Marie Sheridan, for 42 years until her passing in 2002, Bill is survived by his two daughters, Mary-Ellen Nelson and her husband Chris, of Farmington, Connecticut, and Susan Sheridan-McKenna and her husband Kris, of Upton, Massachusetts. He leaves behind eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, James Sheridan of Newington.

After retiring, Bill and Ann spent 25 years in Florida before returning to Connecticut. Known affectionately as “Killer” to his grandchildren, Bill enjoyed sharing imaginary tales and loved a good game of poker.

Funeral services are set to take place on January 6, 2026, at 11 AM at St. James Church, located at 896 Main St, Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Bill L. Sheridan’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The community is encouraged to come together to celebrate his life and contributions during this difficult time.
