Willoughby Hills Lions Club Launches Donation Drive for Local Shelter
The Willoughby Hills Lions Club is spearheading a community initiative aimed at supporting Lake County’s emergency shelter, Project Hope for the Homeless. Dubbed “March Madness for Hope,” this campaign encourages residents to donate essential supplies that ensure the shelter remains clean and welcoming for its guests. The Lions Club has committed to personally delivering these items to those in need.
This initiative emphasizes the pressing requirements of the shelter, which currently include cases of 16-ounce bottled water, heavy-duty trash bags in 13- and 33-gallon sizes, and cleaning supplies such as Lysol disinfectant spray and bleach. These items play a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and comfort for guests who seek refuge at the facility.
In addition to the critical supplies, the shelter has highlighted a need for specific grocery staples. Donations of powdered drink mixes like Tang Orange, Lipton Lemon Iced Tea, and 4C Reduced Sugar Iced Tea/Lemonade are particularly sought after, along with salad dressings and heavy-duty trash can liners such as 33-gallon Hefty Ultra Strong.
Residents who wish to contribute can easily shop from Project Hope’s Amazon Wish List, where many items are marked as having the highest priority and currently lack stock. This direct approach simplifies the donation process and ensures that contributions are targeted effectively.
For those who prefer to make donations in person, the Willoughby Hills Lions Club invites community members to their meeting on March 17, 2024, at 7 p.m.. The gathering will take place at the Willoughby Hills Public Library, located at 5400 Chardon Road.
To coordinate donations or inquire further about the initiative, interested individuals can reach out to Michael Zuren, President of the Willoughby Hills Lions Club, at 440-251-5381. This collaborative effort not only highlights the Lions Club’s commitment to community service but also strengthens the support network for those facing homelessness in Lake County.
