Ted Lasso Returns with Season 4 Focused on Women’s Soccer

Apple TV’s acclaimed series, Ted Lasso, will make its highly anticipated return this summer for a fourth season. The new season will shift its focus to women’s soccer, with Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the titular character. Alongside him, fan-favorite cast members such as Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will return. New faces joining the ensemble include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsey, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.

The production of season four is currently underway, as announced by Apple on Wednesday. The official synopsis reveals that Ted will return to Richmond, where he will face his greatest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. The storyline promises to explore themes of risk-taking and personal growth, stating, “Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”

New Talent and Production Team

Joining the production team is Jack Burditt, known for his work on Modern Family and 30 Rock, who will serve as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV. Jason Sudeikis continues to wear multiple hats as both star and executive producer, collaborating with fellow executive producers Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel. Brett Goldstein will contribute as a writer and executive producer, alongside Leanne Bowen, with Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh also writing and producing for this season. Dylan Marron is set to serve as story editor.

The series benefits from the extensive experience of Bill Lawrence, known for Scrubs, who will also executive produce through his company, Doozer Productions, in partnership with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television. Co-executive producers Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer from Doozer will also play significant roles in the production.

Since its debut, Ted Lasso has garnered critical acclaim, winning consecutive Emmy Awards for Best Comedy Series for its first two seasons. The show’s unique blend of humor, heart, and character development has resonated with audiences worldwide, solidifying its place in modern television history.
