Vanderbilt Football Celebrates Historic Victory Over Tennessee

Vanderbilt University’s football team has been recognized as the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week following a significant victory over the No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers. The announcement, made by the Football Writers Association of America and Florida Citrus Sports, highlights Vanderbilt’s impressive 45-24 triumph at Neyland Stadium on December 2, 2023. This win marks a notable achievement for the Commodores, as it was their first victory against Tennessee since 2018.

The rivalry game, which was the 120th meeting between the two teams, began with a tight contest, ending the first half in a 21-21 tie. A pivotal moment occurred when Vanderbilt drew a roughing the passer penalty on Tennessee during a failed third down, granting the Commodores a crucial first down.
