Suspect Pleads Not Guilty in Theft of Beyoncé’s Stolen Items

Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour faced an unfortunate incident in Atlanta last July when a theft disrupted the preparations for her performance. While visiting Krog Street Market, the tour’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and one of her dancers parked their rental vehicle in a nearby parking deck. Upon returning after about an hour, they discovered that their trunk window had been shattered and two suitcases were missing.

The stolen items included critical materials for the tour, as detailed in a police report. Grant informed authorities that the suitcases contained setlists, footage plans for the show, and hard drives with Beyoncé’s unreleased music. Additionally, personal belongings such as clothing, designer sunglasses, laptops, and a pair of AirPods Max headphones were also taken. An officer noted in the report, “Mr. Grant advised he was also carrying some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé.”

The investigation led to the identification of Kelvin Evans, a 30-year-old suspect, who was named in September after being arrested the month prior for an unrelated parole violation. Investigators utilized digital tracking capabilities from some of the stolen devices to connect him to the crime. Remarkably, the authorities recovered the stolen items while Evans was incarcerated.

Following his release from Fulton County Jail on a $20,000 bond in October, Evans appeared virtually in court on January 7, 2024. During the hearing, he entered a plea of not guilty to charges of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft and criminal trespass. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 11, 2024, for a case management hearing.
