Evergreen Capital Management LLC has increased its investment in AbbVie Inc. (NYSE: ABBV) by 6.4% during the third quarter of 2023, as reported by HoldingsChannel. The institutional investor now holds 52,578 shares of AbbVie after acquiring an additional 3,178 shares during this period. The increased stake is valued at approximately $12,174,000.

Several other significant investors have also adjusted their holdings in AbbVie recently. Vanguard Group Inc. raised its position in AbbVie by 1.9% in the second quarter, bringing its total to 177,298,707 shares, worth around $32.91 billion. Similarly, Geode Capital Management LLC increased its stake by 2.4%, now owning 39,178,351 shares valued at $7.24 billion. Charles Schwab Investment Management Inc. lifted its holdings by 6.0%, acquiring 1,517,222 additional shares, resulting in a total of 26,783,329 shares worth about $4.97 billion.

Norges Bank also entered a new position in AbbVie during the second quarter, with an estimated value of $4.29 billion. Raymond James Financial Inc. saw the most substantial increase, raising its position by 41.8% and now owning 9,337,480 shares valued at $1.73 billion. Overall, hedge funds and institutional investors control 70.23% of AbbVie’s stock.

Recent market sentiment surrounding AbbVie has been mixed. Analysts from Zacks Research have raised their earnings per share (EPS) estimates for AbbVie, indicating a belief in stronger earnings momentum in the upcoming quarters. AbbVie has also initiated a first-in-human trial for its new oncology treatment, ABBV-711, targeting advanced squamous tumors, which could help diversify its revenue streams beyond immunology.

The company also announced an increase in its quarterly dividend to $1.73, payable on February 17, 2024, to shareholders recorded on January 16, 2024. This represents an annualized dividend of $6.92 and a dividend yield of 3.2%, up from the previous $1.64 per share. The payout ratio stands at an unusually high 496.97%.

Analysts have provided varied ratings for AbbVie, with Raymond James Financial setting a price target of $256.00. Scotiabank issued a “sector outperform” rating with a target of $280.00, while Piper Sandler recently raised their price target from $284.00 to $289.00. Currently, three analysts have rated AbbVie as a Strong Buy, thirteen as Buy, and eight as Hold, with a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy” and an average price target of $247.84.
