The initial search for Cremer began on June 21, 2023, after her disappearance was reported by friends to Tasmania Police on June 26. Investigators said she had left her vehicle for a day hike but lost communication on June 20, the last day her mobile phone had a signal. Police noted that the area experienced severe winter weather, including subzero temperatures, snow, and rain, which raised concerns about her survival.

Discovery of Remains and Clothing

On Wednesday, a bushwalker found some human remains near Philosopher’s Falls. Following this discovery, police organized further searches, which led to the recovery of additional remains and articles of clothing on Friday, including a polar fleece jacket. Commander Nathan Johnston released a statement confirming the findings, stating, “Today’s search resulted in the discovery of more bones, as well as clothing items – including a polar fleece jacket – that we believe are likely to belong to Celine.”

Police have indicated that formal forensic identification will take time, but they believe the location and nature of the items found strongly suggest they are linked to Cremer. Authorities have informed her family of the developments, acknowledging the emotional weight of the situation.
