Man in Nazi Uniform Assaults University of Georgia Student
A man dressed in a Nazi uniform assaulted a University of Georgia student at an off-campus bar in Athens, Georgia, on the evening of March 7, 2024. The incident occurred at Cutters Pub, where the assailant was confronted by other patrons after being denied entry. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Grace Lang, reported that she was struck during the confrontation with the assailant, later identified as Kenneth Leland Morgan.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as Lang attempted to reach for an armband displaying a swastika that Morgan was wearing. Video footage from the bar shows Morgan swinging a beer mug at Lang, striking her in the face and causing her to fall to the ground.
The University of Georgia issued a statement expressing their horror over the incident. “We are horrified by the actions of an individual who, while in downtown Athens wearing a Nazi uniform, assaulted a female University of Georgia student,” the statement read. The university confirmed that Morgan is not a student and has no affiliation with the institution.
Police responded swiftly to the incident, apprehending Morgan shortly after. According to jail records from the Athens-Clarke County jail, he was booked early on March 8, 2024, facing two misdemeanor counts of simple battery and one felony count of aggravated assault.
The university condemned Morgan’s actions as “heinous antisemitic behavior” and offered counseling services for students who witnessed the assault or have been affected by it. This incident has sparked outrage within the community, highlighting concerns about hate symbols and violence in public spaces.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The University of Georgia has reiterated its commitment to providing a safe environment for all students and condemns any form of violence or hate.
