Local Musicians Shine at In the Living Room Music Series
The “In the Living Room Music Series” is set to feature an evening with local musicians Gary Simpkins, Tony Cook, and Kris Baldwin on March 23, 2024, at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre in Sedona, Arizona. The event, hosted by series creator Shondra Jepperson, will begin at 19:00 and promises an interactive experience that delves into the artists’ careers and personal stories.
Engaging Format Brings Musicians Closer to Fans
Unlike traditional concerts, this series draws inspiration from the acclaimed “Inside the Actors Studio” format. With Jepperson guiding the discussion, audience members will have the opportunity to engage directly with the artists, asking questions throughout the performance. Gary Simpkins, while perhaps lesser-known to some in Sedona, has established himself as a respected figure in the Verde Valley music scene, celebrated for his songwriting skills and musicianship, both as a solo artist and with his band, Spare Change.
“My joy in producing this series is introducing our community to the incredible talent right in our own backyard,” says Shondra Jepperson. “Gary Simpkins is a phenomenal songwriter whose work carries a genuine, soulful weight. I refer to Gary as our own John Prine.”
Jepperson highlighted the exceptional talent of Cook and Baldwin, stating, “Tony and Kris are brilliant musicians – I can hardly wait for the Sedona audience to discover these musical gems of our community.”
Supportive Sponsorship Ensures Artist Compensation
The In the Living Room Music Series relies on the generous support of sponsors, including presenting sponsor Cleaner Quicker Car Wash and concert sponsors Sefton Engineering, LaserGirl Skincare, and MoonBrew. This collaborative effort ensures that 100% of ticket sales go directly to the performing artists and the Sedona International Film Festival.
Patrick Schweiss, Executive Director of the festival, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We’re excited to welcome Gary Simpkins to the Mary D. Fisher stage. He’s been a cornerstone of the Verde Valley music scene, and his bringing to Sedona with him, musicians Tony and Kris is exactly what this series is about. It’s an evening of discovery that our patrons are going to love.”
Tickets for the concert are priced at $20 and can be purchased in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 928-282-1177. They are also available online at www.SedonaFilmFestival.org. The theatre and festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
As the In the Living Room Music Series continues to gain popularity, it serves as a vital platform for showcasing local talent, fostering a deeper connection between artists and the community.
