Tifton Nonprofit Hosts Annual MLK Jr. Breakfast on January 19
Local nonprofit organization, PLIGHT, Inc., is set to host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on January 19, 2026, in celebration of the civil rights leader’s enduring legacy. The event will take place at the Tift County Recreation Department and aims to foster community spirit while honoring the ideals of Dr. King.
Residents of Tifton are encouraged to attend this meaningful gathering that promises not only a delightful breakfast but also a chance to reflect on the principles that Dr. King championed. The breakfast will begin at 8:30 AM, featuring live entertainment from Music Solution and a keynote address by Rev. Tracy Charletta McGeathey.
Rev. McGeathey, currently the pastor of the Allen Temple AME Church in Jacksonville, has an extensive background in community leadership. Previously, she served as the pastor for Mt. Zion AME Church and Lawtey AME Church, among others. Her commitment to mental health advocacy highlights the importance of wellness at every stage of life.
During the event, PLIGHT will also recognize one of its dedicated members with the Spirit of Service Award. This accolade honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the local community, embodying the spirit of service that Dr. King promoted.
