Lunenburg’s Shark Tank Event to Fund Local Skate Park Initiative

A unique “Shark Tank”-style business competition is set to take place in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, aimed at raising funds for the local skate park project. Participants of all ages are encouraged to submit their innovative ideas by the December 15, 2023 deadline. The competition invites individuals or teams of up to three to pitch their concepts on a dedicated platform, with the goal of supporting the development of a community skate park.

The selected pitches will be showcased at the Central Massachusetts Shark Tank event on January 17, 2024, beginning at 18:00 in the Lunenburg Middle High School auditorium, located at 1079 Massachusetts Ave. The event is free for the public, offering an opportunity for community members to rally behind local entrepreneurs and enjoy an evening filled with creativity and innovation.

Participants will have five minutes to present their ideas, and visual aids are permitted. Following each pitch, a question-and-answer session will allow local business leaders and potential investors—referred to as “the sharks”—to provide feedback and insights. The Shark Tank competition not only offers a platform for budding entrepreneurs but also aims to foster community spirit and engagement.

The event is designed to celebrate innovation and problem-solving, bringing together students, professionals, and creative thinkers to inspire and collaborate.

The Lunenburg Skate Park project, a grassroots initiative supported by local students and residents, aims to create a safe and modern space for outdoor recreation. The proposed facility is designed by experts in the field and will offer varied terrain suitable for all skill levels. Located within Marshall Park on land generously donated by the town and the Lunenburg Parks Commission, the skate park is anticipated to become a vibrant hub for community activity.

Currently, the project is close to its fundraising goal, having achieved 93% of the targeted $400,000.
