Nike Launches A’Ja Wilson’s New Signature Shoe, A’Two, on May 2
Nike has officially unveiled the highly anticipated second signature shoe of WNBA star A’Ja Wilson, named the Nike A’Two. The release follows a standout season for Wilson, who plays as a center for the Las Vegas Aces, culminating in a championship victory. The A’Two will be available globally on May 2, 2024, through Nike.com and select retailers.
Wilson debuted the Nike A’Two during her first global tour with Nike Basketball in Paris. This new model builds on the success of her first signature shoe, the A’One, which gained significant popularity among fans and athletes alike. The A’Two is designed to deliver both performance and style, reflecting Wilson’s personal journey and achievements in the sport.
Innovative Design and Features
The Nike A’Two showcases several innovative features aimed at enhancing athletic performance. It includes a forefoot Nike Air Zoom unit, which provides increased responsiveness during gameplay. A midfoot shank facilitates agile movement, while a newly designed molded upper, inspired by Wilson’s signature pearl motif, ensures stability and lockdown control over time.
A reinforced external heel counter offers essential support for sudden stops and pivots, crucial for basketball players. Furthermore, the Cushlon 3.0 midsole allows for springy takeoffs and soft landings, complemented by a high-grip traction pattern that aids in precise lateral movements on the court.
In addition to the shoe, Wilson’s second signature apparel collection will also launch on the same date. This collection features seven pieces tailored for both adults and children, merging performance needs with a fashionable aesthetic.
A’Ja Wilson’s Vision and Inspiration
In a statement, Wilson expressed her excitement about the A’Two, stating, “The A’One was a journey — a real blessing. It did exactly what it was meant to do and put people on notice. The A’Two is a level up of that strong foundation. It’s bigger, bolder and even more me.” She emphasized her desire for the shoe and collection to resonate with the next generation, encouraging young athletes to feel confident and proud.
“My brand and the A’Two are a way for me to connect with the next generation and inspire them to believe in who they are,” Wilson added. She aims for kids to feel like the stars of their own stories when they wear her designs.
Wilson’s commitment to quality is evident in the materials used for the collection, which she describes as “A’grade.” Each piece is crafted to meet the performance and style needs of athletes while allowing them to express their individuality.
With the launch of the Nike A’Two and the accompanying apparel collection, A’Ja Wilson not only cements her status as a leading figure in women’s basketball but also inspires a new generation of athletes to pursue their dreams with confidence and flair.
