The Tennessee Titans have appointed Shea Tierney as their new quarterbacks coach, marking a significant addition to the coaching staff under head coach Robert Saleh. This hiring comes as the Titans aim to revamp their coaching framework for the upcoming season. Tierney’s extensive experience and established relationship with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll are expected to enhance the team’s performance.

Tierney’s coaching journey has seen him work closely with Daboll for nearly a decade. Their collaboration began in 2017 at the University of Alabama, where Tierney served as an offensive assistant while Daboll was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Following their time at Alabama, Tierney joined Daboll in the NFL, contributing to the success of the Buffalo Bills from 2018 to 2021, before moving to the New York Giants in 2022.

During his tenure with the Giants, Tierney was instrumental in the development of quarterback Daniel Jones. In his first season working together, Jones achieved personal bests in multiple categories, including completions (317), passing yards (3,205), and rushing yards (728). Despite facing challenges due to injuries and a struggling offensive line in 2023, Jones had signed a lucrative four-year, $160 million contract extension prior to the season. Ultimately, the Giants finished with a disappointing 6-11 record that year.

The Titans now look to Tierney to help develop their franchise quarterback, Cam Ward, who was selected first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward had a promising rookie season, starting all 17 games and completing 59.8% of his passes for 3,168 yards, with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. However, he also faced adversity, being sacked 55 times—the highest total in the NFL—and losing seven fumbles, indicating areas for improvement.

As Tierney steps into his new role, his focus will be on enhancing Ward’s protection and ball security, critical aspects that will determine the quarterback’s success in the league. The Titans are placing their trust in Tierney and Daboll to cultivate Ward’s potential and guide the team towards a more competitive future.

The Titans are poised for a transformative season as they integrate new coaching philosophies and strategies aimed at revitalizing their performance in the NFL. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how this dynamic coaching duo shapes the future of Tennessee Titans football.
