This win marked the end of the first round of conference play, further solidifying Cabrillo’s position as a strong contender in the league. With this victory, the Seahawks improved their record to 16-6 and currently sit in second place in the division, trailing only San Jose City, which boasts an impressive 17-5 record.

Key Performers Lead the Way

Sophomore forward Mike Carson emerged as a standout player, contributing 17 points to the team’s total. His performance was complemented by fellow sophomore Skylarr Redwood, who made three crucial three-pointers in the second half, finishing with 16 points. The Seahawks showed resilience following a significant win against West Valley, managing to stay focused and maintain momentum as they faced a talented Foothill squad.

Despite trailing 43-42 at halftime, Cabrillo regrouped and executed a strong second-half performance. Seahawks coach James Page acknowledged the challenge posed by Foothill, noting their impressive roster of 11 sophomores and high level of coaching. “To be able to handle them on the road, after a big win last week, in a really fun environment — their crowd was great — just keeps showing the resilience and the togetherness of this group,” Page stated.

In addition to Carson and Redwood, freshmen guards Damani Wilkerson and Daniel Powers each added eight points, with Powers achieving a perfect record at the free-throw line. On the opposing side, Gavin Cox led the Owls with 14 points, while teammates Wyatt Sparling and Jalen Joyce contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
