Barnstaple Pupils Discover Recycling Process in Urgent Visit

URGENT UPDATE: Pupils at Lampard School in Barnstaple received a hands-on lesson in recycling on January 21, 2023, when officers from North Devon Council demonstrated waste management practices that could have lasting environmental impacts.

This interactive visit was part of the school’s Spring Term 1 topic on recycling, allowing students to witness firsthand how to separate waste and understand its journey after leaving home. The council’s waste and recycling team brought a recycling vehicle to give students a close-up view of its operations, emphasizing the importance of responsible waste management in their community.

During the demonstration, council officers explained their roles and highlighted why maintaining a tidy local area is essential. This session was tied to Lampard School’s innovative Future Fridays program, which engages students in litter-picking and recycling initiatives, fostering early awareness and responsibility towards the environment.
