BREAKING: Suspect ‘Down’ After Federal Agent Shooting in Minneapolis
BREAKING: A suspect is reportedly “down” following a shooting involving a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis. The incident occurred early this morning, January 24, 2026, near 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave, just 17 days after the city witnessed another federal law enforcement shooting that resulted in the death of Renee Good.
The City of Minneapolis confirmed via its official X account that it is “working to confirm additional details” surrounding the situation and urged residents to “remain calm and avoid the immediate area.” Authorities have not yet specified the circumstances leading to the shooting.
According to Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, multiple law enforcement sources have indicated that the suspect was armed at the time of the incident. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released a photograph of a gun and two magazines believed to have been in the suspect’s possession.
In a statement to the press, Governor Tim Walz expressed outrage, stating, “Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.” His comments reflect growing frustration over repeated incidents involving federal agents in the state.
As authorities continue to respond to the scene, medics are reportedly attending to the suspect. Details surrounding the identity of the individual and the lead-up to the shooting remain scarce.
This incident marks another troubling chapter in the ongoing debate over federal law enforcement practices in Minnesota. The City of Minneapolis has referred all inquiries to their earlier statement and has not provided further comments at this time.
Residents and nearby businesses are advised to stay alert as the situation unfolds. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
