Hillary Clinton Criticizes GOP After 6-Hour Epstein Deposition
UPDATE: Hillary Clinton has emerged from a marathon six-hour closed-door deposition regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, delivering a scathing criticism of the Republican members of the House Oversight Committee. Just hours after leaving the testimony in Chappaqua, New York, Clinton expressed her disappointment over the lack of transparency, stating that GOP lawmakers missed an opportunity to conduct the hearing publicly.
Speaking to reporters, Clinton described her questioning as “repetitive, literally over and over again,” and expressed frustration that the committee avoided a public forum. “They had a chance to do it in public, and I wish they had done it in public. And I think they’re making the wrong decision, avoiding doing it in public,” she asserted. Clinton emphasized she would not return if a public session is scheduled later.
The deposition took an unexpected turn, as Clinton revealed she was questioned about UFOs and the discredited conspiracy theory known as Pizzagate. “It then got, at the end, quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs,” she said, calling the line of questioning “one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories” she has encountered.
Despite her criticisms, Clinton acknowledged committee chairman James Comer for his substantive inquiries, stating, “I want to see the truth come out.” Throughout her testimony, Clinton maintained that she did not know Epstein personally and referred to Ghislaine Maxwell only as an acquaintance, explaining that Maxwell attended her daughter Chelsea’s wedding as a “plus-one of someone invited.”
Following the deposition, Comer described the session as “productive” but noted that Republicans were not fully satisfied with Clinton’s responses. He highlighted that she repeatedly deflected questions, stating, “The number of times that she said, ‘I don’t know, you’ll have to ask my husband,’ was more than a dozen.”
Tensions escalated during the deposition after Rep. Lauren Boebert reportedly shared a photo from inside the closed session. Clinton remarked on the disruption caused by this breach, indicating that it necessitated a temporary halt in proceedings until assurances were given that rules would be respected moving forward.
The hearing began at 11 a.m. and concluded shortly after 5 p.m., setting the stage for the next significant development in the investigation: a scheduled deposition of former President Bill Clinton, which is expected to be even longer. Neither Clinton has been accused of wrongdoing related to Epstein or Maxwell, although Bill Clinton’s prior relationship with Epstein has raised serious questions.
Rep. William Timmons expressed his frustration with Clinton’s demeanor during the session, labeling her as “obstinate” and suggesting that “the American people deserve answers” regarding the connections between the Clintons and Epstein.
As the investigation unfolds, all eyes will be on Bill Clinton’s upcoming testimony, which could further illuminate the complex web of relationships surrounding Epstein’s illicit activities.
