UPDATE: Sound Transit has just announced significant changes to the Link light rail train schedules affecting the 1 and 2 Lines, starting March 2. This urgent update comes as the agency prepares for crucial construction work at Pinehurst Station.

Beginning on March 2, train operations will be altered during late-night hours on weekdays. From 11 p.m. onward, all 2 Line trains will turn back at Northgate Station, while 1 Line trains will share tracks between Northgate and Shoreline South. This adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and safety.

Additionally, light rail service will be replaced by buses between Northgate and Lynnwood during late-night hours on March 3, 4, and 5, due to extended monthly maintenance work. The 1 Line will continue to operate between Federal Way and Northgate, while the 2 Line will run from Downtown Redmond to South Bellevue and from International District/Chinatown to Northgate.

Further disruptions will occur on the weekend of March 21-22, when buses will replace 1 and 2 Line trains between Capitol Hill and Stadium stations as part of planned work in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel.

Sound Transit officials have emphasized that these changes are necessary to conduct standard system maintenance and prepare for upcoming major events, including the World Cup. Riders are encouraged to stay informed about schedule changes by signing up for email service alerts, which provide real-time information about alterations and help plan trips around potential weather disruptions.
