Community Mourns Loss of Douglas Edward Greer at 38
Douglas Edward Greer, a resident of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on November 18, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on February 2, 1987, in Johnson City, Greer was known for his passion for outdoor activities, including fishing and swimming, as well as his love for shooting pool. He worked at Central Heat and Air and was an active member of the Bramar Baptist Church.
Greer’s life was marked by close family ties and a strong sense of community. He is survived by his three children: Emma, Gracie, and Jackson Greer. His parents, Daryl and Lois Lowe Greer, along with his sister, Anna Lunsford, and her husband, T.J., also mourn his passing. Greer cherished his role as an uncle to his niece, McKinzie Lunsford, and nephew, Tyler Lunsford, and leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Greer faced personal loss prior to his passing, having been preceded in death by his sister, Martha Pauline Greer, on October 30, 2022, as well as both sets of grandparents. He was deeply connected to his friends, especially Ronnie Thornton and Zake Thornton, who regarded him as family.
Funeral Arrangements and Community Support
Funeral services for Douglas Greer will take place on November 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Following the service, interment will be held at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Music during the ceremony will be provided by Mike Presnell.
Pallbearers will include T.J. Lunsford, Jearamy Ward, Jeff Lunsford, and Fred Julian. The community is encouraged to express their condolences to the family through the website of Memorial Funeral Chapel at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
Douglas Greer’s life touched many, and his legacy will continue through his children and the countless friends and family members who will remember him fondly.
